History Of A Legend

In the year of our Lord 1976 in the month of December, the Lord spoke to at that time, Elder David Lee Dupree, Jr. to go and pastor and his people back to True Holiness. Elder Dupree went to his pastor, Elder Mary L. Miles, pastor of Mt. Sinai Tabernacle Holiness Church and expressed what the Lord told him, she in turn said, "Take my church!" So he not wanting to start confusion took the church with Elder Miles as overseer. Elder George Swain, who's now Bishop over his own work, was associate pastor, Mother Bertha Patterson served as Church Mother and also Co-Founder; Evang. Priscilla Dupree was Women's Department President and Co-Founder. The church though very small was strong and the Lord added souls to the churchElder Dupree became Pastor the 1st Sunday in January 1977, a few months later while on the church's first shut-in, the Lord spoke to Elder Dupree and said, "Solid Rock !!!" Elder Dupree called a meeting and told them the new name --- Solid Rock True Holiness Church of The Apostolic Faith and in the year of our Lord 1981, the church became chartered and incorporated. Elder Miles kept Mt. Sinai and Elder Dupree moved on with Solid Rock. The second Solid Rock was established in Brooklyn, New York and then in Nashua, New Hampshire where the late Pastor Grace Fitzpatrick was pastor. The Lord moving in Elder Dupree, called him to the Bishopric in 1981 and was consecrated by the late Bishop R.O. Murray of the Rehoboth Bethel Churches in the early 80's. Solid Rock was on the move. Bishop Dupree picked up a pen during one Holy Convocation and wrote down states where he had churches, but the people knew we had no churches in those states; however, without a vision, the people perish.Today, in every state Bishop wrote down then, a Solid Rock is there and yet growing.  Our Senior Bishop, who is now Chief Apostle has gone through much, but continues to remain steadfast and unmovable.
